Students will develop skills in observational drawing to create contour drawings of shells.
Students will draw a variety of shells, dealing with folds, bumps, and simple/complicated shapes.
Students will learn how to create value and shading using pencil, in order to create the illusion of form.
Students will learn how to use the Rule of Thirds to create a balanced and unified composition of shells.
Students will be able to identify and explain how different drawing tools are used (for example, kneaded eraser, curvy block out, graphite well, blending stump).
Students will use a blending stump and smudgie to create smooth shading.
Students will learn how to find the cast shadow of each shell.
